Rant time...
I drive 40 miles one way to the office everyday.
Granted I could shave about 3 miles from that and
take side roads, but the traffic lights make that
trip worse. This morning, my normal 45 minute to
1 hour trip was 2 hours long. It gave me time to
look at the folks around me and it was
startling.
There was the guy in the Nissan, reading the
Dallas Morning news on his steering wheel. Not a
folded section, but an open 2 page full spread.
We were moving, but at about 3 miles an hour.
There was the woman putting on mascara in the
green Mitsubishi. There was the fellow shaving in
his rearview window, and almost took out the car
in front of him. Hundreds of folks talking on
cell phones, text messaging, and one guy on his
LAPTOP.
Driving a car is probably the most dangerous thing
a person can do, short of bungee jumping with a
slinky. Adding all of the extra morning things to
the mix almost insures a wreck. What I don't
understand is how police officers are more
concerned with seatbelts, registration stickers,
and things of that nature. I am sure this would
all give me road rage, but I am too cautious to
take my hands off the wheel and load the gun. Get
the hell away from me, and let me continue to sit
here, safely thank you very much
